Douglass Greenfield began studying art and architecture at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1978. Courses included drawing, graphic design, scientific illustration, and photography. Later, Greenfield transferred to the University of Illinois in Chicago and graduated with a B.A. in architectural design.

“Art and design have always been important in my life,” says Greenfield. “The visual world is a place to retreat, full of fantasy and wonder. The act of creating is mind expansive as one can immerse into the universe of color and shape, texture and proportion, forgetting the background static of modern living.”

Greenfield hopes to devote more time to creating objects and caturing images that inspire. “There is adventure in discovery and I remain devoted to that search,” he says.
Douglas Greenfield’s works are on display through December 31 at The Cambria Library, 1043 Main Street. The library is open Tuesday and Wednesday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Thursday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Friday and Saturday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
