From the artist:

Born in Columbus, Ohio, at an early age I was only interested in drawing for fun. I was not encouraged to pursue art as I was told I lacked commitment and resources. After my freshman year of college, I joined the Navy and moved to California. I served for four years as an enlisted sailor and then married my wife Terri and returned to finish college at San Francisco State. After completing college, we moved to Sacramento where I worked as a social worker before spending the next thirty years working for the State of California. During this time, my wife and I had two children and managed an art and antiques business in Folsom.

In 2004, we retired and moved to Cambria. During the past eighteen years, I have taken art courses at various colleges, attended numerous artist workshops, and have received some individual instruction from a few professional artists. I consider myself a self-taught and undisciplined colorist. My works are non-representative and more on the artistically poetic side. They must be colorful enough and a bit discordant, so they capture and challenge the viewer to participate. Some of my favorite artists are Goya, Diego Rivera, Robert Arneson, and Robbie Conal.
